Where pavers beat a concrete slab
Pavers win when you want a pattern, when you want water through the joints, or when you want to lift a section later to fix something underneath. They also handle Perris ground movement better, because a field of small units flexes where a slab cracks.
A slab is simpler and cheaper for a big plain rectangle. If that is what you need, we will tell you.

- Excavate. Deep enough for base plus bedding plus the paver, so the finished surface lands where it should.
- Base and compaction. Crushed base in lifts, compacted each time.
- Grade for water. Fall away from the house.
- Bedding sand and screed. Screeded flat so every unit sits at the same height.
- Lay the pattern and cut. Running bond, herringbone or a large-format grid.
- Edge restraint and joint sand. Restraint at the perimeter, joint sand swept in and compacted so the field locks instead of creeping outward.
Most of our paver work sits in the newer tracts, Villages of Avalon and Monument Ranch, where the builder concrete is a plain slab and people want something that looks like a choice. In the older streets of Downtown Perris it is usually the opposite job: a cracked walkway from decades ago that needs replacing.
