A solid wall, hedge or fence in the front setback can be up to 3.5 feet, in a decorative material. Wrought iron or tubular steel can go to 5 feet, and so can iron over a block base of up to 3.5 feet. Side and rear walls in the required setbacks top out at 6 feet.
Do I need a permit for a retaining wall in Fontana?
Fontana's building code exempts retaining walls up to 3 feet from the bottom of the footing, as long as they do not hold up a load. Taller walls need a permit. We tell you which applies at the walk-through and include it in the quote.
