Fall for water. Every flat surface has a slope, away from the house.
Control joints. Placed to the shape of the pour, not sprinkled around.
Expansion at the house. So the slab moving does not push against the foundation.
Clean edges. Where the flatwork meets turf, the edge has to be true, or the turf never sits flat against it.

How thick should a patio slab be?

For foot traffic and furniture, four inches on a compacted base is standard. Anything holding a vehicle or a spa needs more, and we spec that at the quote.

Do I need a mow curb if I am getting turf?

Wherever the turf meets loose material like rock or bark, yes. Without it the material ends up on the turf and the turf edge eventually lifts.

How much does flatwork cost?

Priced by square foot, and the number moves with how much demolition and base prep the area needs. Straight rectangles cost less than tight curves. Call (951) 556-0315 and we will measure it.

Can you pour up against my existing slab?

Yes, with a joint between the two so they can move independently. Tied hard together, one drags the other and both crack.
